Morgan Harrington is a composer, performer, and educator living in New York City. Harrington’s compositional voice is shaped by his diverse experiences as a jazz pianist, experimental electronic musician, and performer of sacred music.
Recent awards include selection as an artist-in-residence for the 2026 “Corti, Chiese E Cortili” festival in Bologna, Italy working with Quartetto Prometeo, and a composition fellowship with the Bang on a Can 2026 Summer Music Festival. Harrington’s compositions have been performed by professional ensembles including Hub New Music, Rhythm Method String Quartet, Dither Electric Guitar Quartet, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra and Contemporaneous Ensemble among others. As a performer, he has appeared as both a jazz pianist and experimental electronic musician at venues across the southeastern United States and in New York City since 2017. Harrington is the founder of TEND, an experimental multimedia performance project in collaboration with visual artist Ashleigh Hillen.
Harrington holds a M.A. in composition with a sub-concentration in classical piano performance from Radford University, a B.F.A. in jazz and contemporary music performance from UNC-Asheville, and a B.A. in history from UNC-Asheville. Harrington is currently pursuing a M.M. in Concert Composition at NYU where he studies with Michael Gordon.
Harrington is currently on the piano faculty at Church Street School of Music and Art in Manhattan, New York. He lives with his spouse Ashleigh and their two cats in New York City.
