I was gifted my first tarot deck around 2019 (according to friends more versed in tarot, you’re not supposed to buy a deck for yourself). The deck sat on my shelf for several years before I started using it for personal reflection. I enjoy taking out cards and seeing if they could be useful for understanding something in my life. I don’t personally ascribe anything supernatural to the cards, and if a specific card doesn’t feel helpful in any way, I won’t hesitate to draw another one. The Six of Swords is a tarot card that I’ve pulled several times. The card portrays a hooded figure rowing across a body of water with a veiled woman and a child sitting in the boat. The card is often interpreted, broadly speaking, as a journey to calmer waters.
