The piece is inspired by the interlocking rhythms of a bike wheel and the mixture of hope, fear, and a sense of searching that I associate with a 2014 cross-country bicycle trip. I left Minneapolis and worked on farms through the WWOOF program in Minnesota, Michigan, West Virginia, and North Carolina. I decided to stay in North Carolina, near Asheville, where I eventually returned to school for my undergraduate degree and met my spouse, Ashleigh.
